The Rarest Coffee in the Galápagos
In 1956, a man named Luis Jácome arrived on Isabela Island. He came with nothing but his hands and a love for the land.
His son became one of the Galápagos’ most respected naturalist guides. He helped establish the Galápagos Marine Reserve.
His grandson planted a coffee grove in 2010. Among the native Scalesia trees. In volcanic soil untouched by chemicals. In a place where the cold Humboldt Current creates a microclimate that rivals the world’s finest high-altitude growing regions.
That grandson is Bernie Jácome. And Blue Iguana Coffee is the result of three generations of love for these islands.
But There’s More
The Scalesia trees on our farm are not just shade for the coffee.
They are the last known habitat for the “Brujo”, the Small Vermilion Flycatcher (Pyrocephalus nanus). A bird so rare that fewer than 40 individuals are left on Earth.
Our partnership with the Charles Darwin Foundation means every bag you buy is part of an active scientific mission to save this species from extinction.
This isn’t a donation. This isn’t a percentage of profits.
Our farming method is the conservation project.
What’s in the Cup
The Light-Medium Roast is smooth, bright, and beautifully balanced.
- Chocolate: Rich and warming on the finish
- Almond: Smooth, nutty sweetness in the body
- Cranberry: A bright, clean acidity that lifts the cup
100% Bourbon and Timor hybrid varietals. Hand-picked. Single-estate. Grown in mineral-rich volcanic ash soil at Rancho Bravo, Galápagos Islands.
Why This Coffee Is Different
- Single-Estate: Every gram comes from one farm. One family. One island.
- Denomination of Origin (D.O.) Certified: Legally protected. 100% Galápagos. No mainland blending. Ever.
- Naturally Organic: Galápagos biosafety laws ban most pesticides and fertilizers by default. No certification needed.
- Ultra-Limited Production: Only 160kg per month. That’s 0.8% of all Galápagos coffee produced. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
- Darwin Foundation Partner: The gold-standard conservation institution in the Galápagos backs our mission.
